Taking a cue from Florida’s proficiency in emergency management, Florida organizations led by Brevard Workforce and Space Florida, on the front lines responding to the economic impact of NASA's transitioning human spaceflight program, have teamed with other state organizations and members of the aerospace industry to develop a group committed to ensuring that accurate, relevant information is available and accessible to business and individuals affected, the general public and the media. Key regional, local and state organizations have formed FloridaSTARnet to share resources, work cooperatively and ensure, responsiveness to the information needs of Florida’s residents, businesses and media throughout the State’s transition in aerospace.

FloridaSTARnet – or the Florida Space Transition and Revitalization Information Network – is a central point of information exchange on the industry and workforce as it transitions throughout the scheduled conclusion of NASA’s Shuttle program in February 2011. Among FloridaSTARnet’s leading directives, is the development and maintenance of this unique website as a reliable source of information for businesses and individuals whether directly or indirectly impacted by the end of the Shuttle program. Other FloridaSTARnet communications platforms include Twitter and a news bureau.

FloridaSTARnet information will remain up to date and readily accessible to all of the state’s key stakeholders and individuals involved in the transitioning of the aerospace sector through ongoing input by the organizations managing the transition directly.
